John P. Hlifka 80, of Mingo Junction, died Saturday October 6, 2012 at Trinity West Hospital Steubenville. He was born April 20, 1932 in Piney Fork, a son of the late John and Sally (Rembish) Hlifka. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Steel Mingo Plant, a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a veteran in the US Army, and a 3rd Degree member of the Knight's of Columbus Mingo Junction. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Rita (Orsini) Hliska in 2006. John is survived by a son John (Lisa) Hlifka of Egg Harbor Township NJ, three grandchildren Justin, Brian, and Nicole Hlifka, a brother-in-law Lee (Tootsie) Orsini, and a sister-in-law Josephine D'Aleso, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends. The family would like to thank John's care giver Michelle for all she did for him. Friends will be received at the Blaschalk-Wilson Funeral Home 115 Union Ave. Mingo Junction Monday October 8, 2012 from 4-8 pm, and the on Tuesday from 12:30 till time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 1 pm at St Agnes Catholic Church Mingo Junction, with Rev. James M. Dunfee officiating. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Steubenville. Wake service will be recited on Monday at 5 pm at the Funeral Home.
