John J. Kutys, Sr., 88, of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born May 2, 1926 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Lusczak) Kutys. He retired from the former Bearings, Inc. of North Wheeling. John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Polish National Alliance Lodge # 2220 and former Eagles Lodge #456 all of Martins Ferry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Anna (Pomaranski) Kutys, brothers; Joseph and Louis Kutys and sister, Jenny Swanek. Surviving are his children; John J. (Mary) Kutys, Jr of Galena, OH, Michael (Lori) Kutys of Martins Ferry and Anne Kutys of Dublin, OH, grandchildren; Linda (Jason) Paul, Christopher (Jenni) Kutys, Michael Kutys and Veronica Kutys and three great grandchildren. Friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Entombment follows in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Martins Ferry. Wake services will be recited Thursday at 3:30 pm in the funeral home.
