John W. Maderia, 88, of Rayland, OH died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 in Homosassa Springs, FL. He was born Oct. 23, 1922 in Martins Ferry, OH a son of the late William H. and Ethel (Jackson) Maderia. He retired from the Yorkville Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. John was a member of the Hopewell U. Methodist Church and Smithfield Lodge #182 F. & A. M. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps, WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Martha J. (Moore) Maderia, his second wife Betty (Blosser) Irvin Maderia and three sisters Lillian Boyd, Louise "Biege" Saxton, and Ann Folda. Surviving are his four sons John J. (Ada Jane) Maderia of Mobile, AL, James R. (Janis) Maderia of Rayland, Larry J. (Susan) Maderia of Martins Ferry, Edward A. (Denise) Maderia of Colerain, OH, two step-children Pauline Irvin and David (Deanna) Irvin both of Rayland, a brother William R. Maderia of Rayland, ten grandchildren Lisa (David) Hickman, Scott Maderia, Amy (Randy) Jeffers, Susan (David) Meeks, Jimmy (Janna) Maderia, Nicole (Odin) Elich, Allison (Joslin) Joseph, Drs. Leah and Eric Adkins, MD, Justin Maderia, and Dr. Aaron Maderia, DVM, step-grandchildren Danielle and Diana Irvin, and Derek Rogers, and eleven great grandchildren Riley, Rusty, and Regan Hickman, Bryan and Christopher Jeffers, David and Katie Meeks, Connor Maderia, David and Paisly Elich, and Annabelle Adkins. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH, and Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am at Hopewell U. Methodist Church, Hopewell, OH with Rev. James A. Hoff officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Masonic Ritualistic Services will be held Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
