John M. "Jonah" Makuch, 88, of Dillonvale, OH, passed Sunday January 31, 2016 at East Ohio Regional Hospital. He was born in Dillonvale on March 11, 1927, a son of the late Mike and Helen Jackowski Makuch. He is a retired employee of National Steel Service Center; a lifelong member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Dillonvale American Legion, McCook Post #529, Dillonvale Councilman and a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII. He enjoyed his family, making sausage and gardening. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son John Craig Makuch; brothers: Tony and Mike Makuch; and sisters Mary Talasis and Stella Ulczynski. John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Clara Vargo Makuch; a daughter Michele (Scott) Wetterau of Canal Winchester, OH, a son Mark (Mia) (Marsili) Makuch of Baltimore, OH; a brother Chester Makuch of Dillonvale; grandchildren: Matthew Makuch Roshak, Jessica, Marcus, Joshua, Tyler and Jenna Makuch. Friends will be received Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second Street, Dillonvale, with vigil service at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday February 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with Msgr. John C. Kolesar as celebrant.
