John L. Martin 89, of Adena died Friday July 1, 2011 at Carriage Inn of Cadiz surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 17, 1921 in Cabin Creek WV, a son of the late Benjamin and Helen Zewelly Martin. He was a retired employee of Saginaw-Oglebay- Norton Coal Co., a protestant by faith, and a US Army Veteran in WW II. In addition to his parents her was preceded in death by his son-in-law; Thomas Griffith two brothers; George and Robert Martin, three sisters; Frances Enoch, Maggie Heimberger, and Shirley Danley. John is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Dorothy Johnson Martin, a daughter; Linda Griffith of Adena, two sisters; Lil McFarland of Shadyside, Freda Brandon of St. Clairsville, a sister-in-law; Rose Martin, two grandchildren; J.T. and his wife Shannon Stubbs Griffith, Stephen and his wife Melissa Griffith, and two great grandchildren Corissa Lynn and Shane Thomas Griffith, and several nieces and nephews. In accordance to John's wishes there will be no visitation and private services will be held at the convience of the family Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside in charge of arrangements.
