He was born April 24, 1923 in Neff's Ohio, a son of the late Andrew and Bernice (Lopachimski) Osovich. John was Catholic and a long-term parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church Wolfhurst; he was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Martins Ferry. John was an outstanding athlete at Bridgeport High School, lettering in football and baseball. His baseball talents earned him a contract with the Cleveland (Indians) Baseball Company in 1942. While working through the farm leagues, the US Army called him to duty for WW II and he served in Europe, both in combat and as a musician entertaining the troops. John will be well remembered for the many bands he played with in the valley, especially Eddie Garczyk's Band. Following the war, John was recruited by Kent State for his Baseball and Musical talents. He chose baseball. But upon finding the love of his life, John returned home, married Rose, and together they started their family. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Rose (Seita) Osovich in 2005, four brothers Stanley, James "Lottie", Charles, and Michael, two sisters Jean Klimek and Carol Hegedus.
