Obituary

John J. Travis, born December 5, 1921 went to be with the Savior he faithfully served, on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. John was a member of First Baptist Church Barnesville. He was a Purple Heart Recipient and a World War II Veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army. He retired from TriState Asphalt in 1984. John was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Travis and Annie Decker Travis and sister, Virginia Conley. John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie Ferguson Travis; daughters, Janice (Lewis) Sheppard of Lloydsville and Jacquie (Danny) Campbell of Barnesville; son, Jay (Misty) Travis of New Concord; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Kelly Kemp Braido & Patron Funeral Home, 702 East Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Reverend Wayne Ickes will be officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, Ohio.
