John N. Villies, 88, formerly of Mingo Junction, Ohio died peacefully in his sleep in Anderson, Indiana on Sunday, November 18th. He was the husband of Marjorie Villies (Peters) of Toronto Ohio for 61 years. John was born in near Bethany, WV on April 12, 1924. He attended Steubenville High School. He served in the US Army Air Corp as a radioman in Burma during WWII. After the war John worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad until retiring. John lived in Mingo Junction until 2006 when he moved to Anderson IN to be close to family. John was active in the Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, and Knights of Pythias in Mingo Junction. He loved to travel and fish with his daughters, son-in-law, granddaughters, and friends. A loyal fan of Big Red, Pirates, Steelers, Mountaineers and Buckeyes, John was an avid sportsman. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughters Joanna Wood and her husband Paul of Anderson Indiana, Linda Caspole and her husband John and daughters Michelle and Jennifer of Carlsbad California. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Fonow and Helen Hesske of Steubenville, brother Angelo of Florida, and their families. John will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio, Thanksgiving weekend. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Blaschalk-Wilson Funeral Home, 115 Union Avenue, Mingo Junction, Ohio, where services will be held Saturday November 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Massimi, officiating. Interment will follow. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations may be made to Team Rubicon http://teamrubiconusa.org.
