John Joseph Volan Sr., 77, of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in East Ohio Reginal Hospital.  He was born on July 6, 1942 in Wheeling a son of the late Bert and Helen Volan.  He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, served his country from 1960 through 1964 in the United States Marine Corp.  John retired in 2006 from General Welding and Supply Company and volunteered at the Bridgeport Food Pantry.

John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joann (Sustersic) Volan; a daughter, Marnie (John) McCardle; a son John Volan Jr. and 3 grandchildren, John, Katherine and Robert McCardle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter and 3 sisters, Barbara, Mary Alice and Nancy.

Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Rd., Brookside.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 am in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 630 Main St., Bridgeport, celebrated by Father John Mucha.  Internment will follow in Linwood Cemetery.  Military Honors provided by the Belmont County Veterans Association, will be held Friday at 4 pm in the funeral home.
