John E. White, 89, of Dillonvale, Ohio, passed Wednesday April 16, 2014 at home. He was born in Wheeling, W.Va., on January 7, 1925, a son of the late Jesse and Estella Deihl White. He was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel; a U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corp Veteran Semper Fi; a member of the Tri State Marine Corp of Weirton, WV., a life member of the Yorkville VFW, a member of the Korean War Veterans Ohio Valley Chapter, and a member of the Dillonvale American Legion McCook Post. John served in WWII and the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Mae Brubaker White; a brother "Peck" White; sisters Alice Kunkle, Theresa Bulick and Marlene Lee. John is survived by two sons: John (Mary) White with whom he resided, and Tom (Jamie) White of Rayland; a sister Mary Tysk of Warwood; grandchildren: Eric (Mary) White, Mandy (Jen) White and Chad White; four great-grandchildren: Shyanne, Mason, Rylie and Bentlee; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday 2-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second Street, Dillonvale, Ohio, where services will be held Tuesday April 22, 2014 at 11:00am with Chaplin Agnes Brady officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to: Valley Hospice, Rayland, Ohio.Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, with Military Honors provided at the cemetery.
