John J. Zido, 81, of National Road, Bridgeport, Oh. Died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Lancia-Belmont Manor Nursing Home St. Clairsville. John was born Sept. 2, 1927 in Lansing, a son of the late George (1968) and Mary (Saxon) Zido (1980). John was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church Wolfhurst, where he was also a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector, and served on parish council. He was a active leader of the Curisillo Movement of the Diocese of Steubenville, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was the former owner and operator of Zido's Café, Lansing. Along with his father and brother they ran the rock & roll night club Stone House in the 60's and 70's. John ended his career in real estate and working at the Belmont County Auditors Office as an appraiser. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. He loved polkaing with Virginia; his theme song was "Two Bucks Polka". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Virginia V. Mayeski Zido in 2006, a brother George E. Zido in 2002 and a daughter-in-law Dianne E. Zido in 1992. John is survived by a son John E. Zido of St. Clairsville; a daughter Carol L. Zido Peregoy and her husband William G. of Houston, TX., a granddaughter: Dawn Zido Gorence and her husband Edward L. of St. Clairsville; three grandsons: Joshua John Zido and his wife Tracy of St. Clairsville; William Garret and Nathan John Peregoy both of Austin, TX.; four great-grandsons: Dominic Edward, Samuel John, Vincent Louis Gorence all of St. Clairsville, and Evan James Zido of St. Clairsville. Friends will be received Monday 5-8 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio, with Vigil Service at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wolfhurst, Ohio at 10:00 a.m.Tuesday with Reverend John Mucha as celebrant.
