JOSEPH L. BLASCHALK, 87, of Mingo Junction, died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville. Joe was born May 21, 1921 in Empire, Ohio, the son of the late Michael and Mary (Blasko) Blaschalk. Joe was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mingo Junction and was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII. He was the owner of Blaschalk Funeral Home in Mingo Junction since 1964 and was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for 60 years. He was a member of the Mingo Junction American Legion and Lions Club as well as the Ohio Funeral Directors Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers George and Daniel Blaschalk. Joe is survived by his wife Margaret (Bray) Blaschalk; a sister Margaret Wright and her husband Floyd of Gnadenhutten, OH; nieces Marilyn Roush and Rosemary Dorff; and dear friend Gina Cornelius Wright. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 pm and Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Blaschalk-Wilson Funeral Home, 115 Union Ave. Mingo Junction, where Vigil services will be held Thursday at 7:45 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mingo Junction with Father James Dunfee as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Empire, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Agnes Catholic Church or the Mingo Junction Lions Club.
