Joseph A. Dangelo of Bridgeport passed away in his sleep Friday March 30, 2012 at the age of 93. A hard-working, generous man who never was shy to offer his opinion, Joe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. His wife of 73 years, Bonnie, was by his side to the end.Joe was born in Bridgeport on July 7, 1918 to the late Peter and Florence Dangelo, who came to America from Sicily.He worked all his life and rarely missed a day, starting as a teenager when he ran the movie projector at The Family Theatre in Bridgeport. He was a salesman for 54 years at Charles M. Sledd Co. and at M. Marsh & Son. He worked into his 90s, spending 12 years at Gumby's LLC as an office clerk. On his 75th birthday, he received a key to the city from the mayor of Bridgeport.Joe enjoyed a good meal with his family; going to his grandchildren's sporting events and watching a ballgame on TV. He and his family often spent weekends at the lake and Oglebay Park. He was a long-time member of the Elks. Many Saturday nights were reserved for the dancing hall with Bonnie. Joe will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife and two children, son Norm and his wife Jackie of Laguna Hills, Ca., and daughter JoAnn (Weir) and her husband Bill of Gnadenhutten, Ohio. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Doug Weir of Scottsdale, Az., Tracy (Weir) Monaco of Valencia, Ca., Todd Dangelo of Bloomsbury, N.J., Kelly Weir of Groveport, Ohio and Josh Weir of Canton, Ohio, and four great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Taylor, Courtney and Rachel. A Memoral Service will be held Wednesday April 4, at 11am, at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 7 North 4th Street Martins Ferry, with Pastor Bill Webster officiating.
