JOSEPH GONOT, 79, of Bridgeport, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Heartland Lansing Care Center. He was born March 5, 1930 in Bridgeport, the son of the late George and Nellie (Bendekgey) Gonot. Joseph was a partner with his brothers at the former Tri-State Rack Service and was the proud owner of Joel Food Service. He was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church in Wheeling. He played in the OVAC All Star Charity Football Classic with the Class of 1949 and was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis (Kotwis) Gonot; a grandson Jesse Pollock; two brothers Edward and Fred Gonot; and two sisters Nellie Fitzpatrick and Elizabeth "Lee" Bowman. Joseph is survived by two daughters, Candace Pollock of Westerville and Joanne "Josie" Gonot of Gahanna; a granddaughter Meg Pollock of Dublin; his partner, Elvera Hogue of Martins Ferry; two brothers, Tom of Colerain and Lou of Bridgeport; four sisters Virginia Baker of Lansing, Marjorie Trouten and Rose Weisal both of Brookside and Patricia Herzberg of Columbus. Visitation will be Wednesday at 11 am at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church in Wheeling, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm with Father Bakhos Chidiac as celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum in Martins Ferry. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Brookside.
