Joseph E. Grier, 75, of Westerville, Ohio, formerly of Barnesville, Ohio,
died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Mount Carmel East Hospital
in Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 19, 1936 in Barnesville,
Ohio, son of the late Clarence V. Grier and Hallie M. House.
Joseph was the owner and operator of The Talk of the Town Beauty
Salon and retired from Lazarus Department Stores after 20 years of
service. A graduate of Barnesville High School, Joseph attended Boston Conservatory of Music, Wheeling Beauty School, and Franklin University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a member of
Barnesville Presbyterian Church, where he was active in the church choir,
and sang for many weddings. He served his country in the U.S. Army
as an assistant chaplain.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother,
Lester Grier; and one sister, Eileen Palmer.
He is survived by brother, Duane (Barbara) Grier of Barnesville; sister,
Mary (Homer) Rice; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 1:00 PM,
where family and friends may call from 12:00 PM until the time of service, at
Interment will follow at Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio.
