Joseph Paul Pittner, 94, of Bellaire, Ohio died Monday, July 12, 2010 at Belmont Community Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Bellaire. He was a 1935 graduate of Bridgeport High School, where he played many sports, including football and is credited with naming the Bulldogs as a result of a school contest in 1932. Joseph was an avid fisherman, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Joseph was born February 28, 1916 in Boydsville, Ohio, a son of the late Andrew and Hermine (Stratter) Pittner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over seventy years, Julia; four brothers, Donald, Richard, Andrew and Max Pittner; one sister, Louise Laipple. Joseph is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Aderman of Bellaire; a granddaughter, Jennifer Greene and her husband Matthew of Stockport, Ohio; a great granddaughter, Sylvia Grace Greene; and a great grandson, Walden Joseph Greene. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church, Bellaire with Father Daniel Heusel as celebrant. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
