Obituary

Joseph Paul Pittner, 94, of Bellaire, Ohio died Monday, July 12, 2010 at Belmont Community Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Bellaire. He was a 1935 graduate of Bridgeport High School, where he played many sports, including football and is credited with naming the Bulldogs as a result of a school contest in 1932. Joseph was an avid fisherman, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Joseph was born February 28, 1916 in Boydsville, Ohio, a son of the late Andrew and Hermine (Stratter) Pittner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over seventy years, Julia; four brothers, Donald, Richard, Andrew and Max Pittner; one sister, Louise Laipple. Joseph is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Aderman of Bellaire; a granddaughter, Jennifer Greene and her husband Matthew of Stockport, Ohio; a great granddaughter, Sylvia Grace Greene; and a great grandson, Walden Joseph Greene. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church, Bellaire with Father Daniel Heusel as celebrant. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. In lieu of memorial contributions please request memorial Masses at St. John's Catholic Church, 415 37th Street, Bellaire, OH 43906.
