Joseph David Roscoe, 77, of Sun City West, Arizona, passed peacefully on August 3rd, 2026. He was born on December 25, 1948, a son of the late Ludwig and Wilma Roscoe.

Joseph was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sun City West.

Joseph is survived by his wife Connie Roscoe; two children, Angela (Chris) Philkill of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Steven (Tricia) Roscoe of Perkasie, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Joanne (Joe) Costain, Jean (David) Golladay, and Rose Childers; and five grandchildren including Nick Philkill, Megan Philkill, Lauren Philkill, Brianna Roscoe, and Sophia Roscoe.

He was predeceased by two sisters: Ethel Baker and Elsie Black.

Joseph was a graduate of Adena High School in 1966. He was class salutatorian and was chosen to attend Buckeye Boys State. He was active in three sports: baseball, basketball, and football.

In 1972 he received a BSEE from Akron University, graduating with honors. In 1974, he received an MSEE from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.

He was most proud of the work he did in the development of cellular radio, a precursor to the smartphone technology used today.

Throughout his life he played tennis and golf and enjoyed traveling with his loving wife, Connie. They were married on June 15, 1968, and spent a long life together enjoying many adventures.

A Catholic Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 19002 N 128th Ave, Sun City West, AZ 85375, US, on August 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11 am at Holly Memorial Gardens 73360 Pleasant Grove, Ohio  43916.

Joseph wished any donations would be directed to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and American Cancer Society.
