Joseph Selak, 96, of Colerain, Ohio, passed suddenly Monday evening October 21, 2013 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born October 15, 1917 a son of the late John and Mary Kain Selak. Joe was a WWII Army Veteran where he served as a Major. He worked as a foreman at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel for over 40 years. His favorite job was "working" at the Colerain Senior Citizens Center, where he called bingo and ran weekly euchre tournaments up until the day he passed. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Novak Selak; brothers: Lou, John, and Frank Selak; and a sister Margaret Selak. Joe is survived by his beloved friend of 50 years, Rose Martin, as well as Shawn and Lisa Martin, all of Colerain; adopted grandchildren: Jason Martin of Wheeling, Sherry Martin Callahan of Pittsburgh, PA., Kevin Martin of Wolfhurst, Ohio; nephews: Robert Selak of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jack Selak of Newark, Ohio; Jeanie Selak Harrell of Arkansas, as well as great niece Dawn Selak of Washington DC., Friends will gather to celebrate Joe's life on Saturday October 26, 2013 at 10:30a.m. at Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove, Ohio. Military Honors will be provided by Belmont County Veterans Association at 12:00 noon and entombment will follow. Memorial contributuions may be made to Chris Fanning Memorial Community Education Fund, c/o 255 Fulton Street, Wheeling, W.Va.
