Joyce A. Carpenter, 72 of Barnesville, OH passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Barnesville Hospital. She was born December 31, 1938 in Barnesville, daughter of the late Charles K. Douglass and Sara E. "Libby" Lallathin Douglass. Joyce was retired from the former Campus Shirt Factory of Barnesville and later worked with Mrs. White of Barnesville. Joyce worked with the Belmont County Election Board for many years and was an avid Bingo player. A favorite pastime of Joyce's was talking on the CB radio. She was known as "Lady Hillbilly". She was a former Barnesville Band Booster and a member of Barnesville Main Street United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a special son, Preston Scott Nation and her Bingo buddy, Mary Bishop. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Arthur Carpenter, celebrating their wedding anniversary October 7th. She is also survived by her son, Allen Carpenter of Barnesville; special nephew, Christian C. Carpenter; brother, Charles R. Douglass of Akron; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received, Sunday 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 702 East Main St., Barnesville, OH, where services will be held ,Monday at 11 am. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens Colerain, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to: Belmont County Animal Rescue League.
