Judith Ann “Judy” Wiater of Bridgeport, Ohio, passed away Sept. 27 at age 79.

Judy was born Nov. 11, 1946, to Stanley C. and Anna (Butch) Wiater. She graduated from St. John Central High School in Bellaire, Ohio, and the Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing.

Judy’s nursing career included work in acute care and long-term care, both at the bedside and in supervisory positions. Her employment included tenures at Wheeling Hospital and Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, W.VA., and Bell Nursing Home in Belmont, Ohio.

Judy’s love of nursing was incredibly strong and lasted her lifetime. It was rivalled only by her love for stray cats, which she kept well-fed on her back porch.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brothers John and Timothy Wiater and her nephew Luke Wiater. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Linda and Annette Wiater, nieces Annie (Bill) Johnson and Corey (Chris) Kerr, nephew Justin (Vikki Booher) Wiater, three great nieces and two great nephews.

At Judy’s request, there will be no visitation hours or Mass of Christian Burial. A private remembrance will be held by the family. Interment at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio. There will be a Nightingale Tribute held at the cemetery in Judy’s honor. Arrangements were entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport.
