Julia (Szabo) Sambuco, 91 of Pleasant Grove, OH, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. She was born Apr. 4, 1919 in Passaic, NJ a daughter of the late Stephan Szabo and Julia (Molnar) Szabo Jocik. She retired from the Clean Coal Co. of Bellaire, OH. Julia was a member of Colerain Presbyterian Church, Colerain, OH. She was a long time volunteer and employee of the Gift Shop at East Ohio Regional Hospital where she also was a member of the Linden Twig. Julia was a devoted grandmother and had a great love for cooking. In addition to her parents and step-father Louis Jocik she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Sambuco, Jan. 14, 2010, a grandson David H. Sambuco, a brother Steve Szabo, and three sisters Helen Mozie, Irene Heslop, and Margaret Szabo. Surviving are her sons Edward (Sandra) Sambuco, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, OH and Errol C. (Mary Edith) Sambuco of Martins Ferry, a daughter Stephanie (Geno) Buonamici of Hubbard, OH, eleven grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at 11:00 am with Rev. Thomas N. Thomas officiating. Entombment follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the David H. Sambuco Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Peoples National Bank of Mt. Pleasant, 298 Union St., Mt. Pleasant, OH 43939.
