Julia Smithoffer Julia (Molnar) Smithoffer, 97, of Virginia St., Martins Ferry, OH, formerly of Barton, OH died Sat., Apr. 12, 2003 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Nov. 1, 1905 in Hungary a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Szendrei) Molnar. She was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Barton and the Catholic Women's Club of the church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alex Smithoffer and two brothers William and Charles Molnar. Surviving are three daughters Elizabeth Hord and her husband Calvin, Julia Peklicz and her husband Joseph, and Helen Milan and her husband William A. all of Martins Ferry; two sisters Rose Petho of Powhatan Point and Marge Cenkus of Barton; five grandchildren including Richard A. Hord, Donald Peklicz and his wife Nancy, Joseph A. Peklicz, Lisa Burns and her husband George, and William A. Milan, Jr.,and three great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sun. 6-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Mon., Apr. 14, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Barton with Msgr. Mark J. Froehlich officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville. Rosary devotions will be recited Sun. at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
