Julia Rose (Smithoffer) Peklicz, 97, of Martins Ferry passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at her home. She was born on July 4, 1929, in Pleasant Grove, OH the daughter of the late Alex and Julia Ann (Molnar) Smithoffer.
Julia was a former employee of the Times Leader and Wheeling Intelligencer as a Teletype setter operator and retired from East Ohio Regional Hospital Switchboard Supervisor after 15 years of employment. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Peklicz in May of 2006, her sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Helen Milan, and brother-in-law, Calvin Hord.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Donald (Nancy) Peklicz of Wheeling, Joseph Peklicz of Martins Ferry, grandson, Jamie, her sister, Elizabeth Hord and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Julia’s wishes there will be no visitation, and all services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Private burial will take place at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
