Scottie McNickle, Jr. L. S. "Scottie" McNickle, Jr., 78, of S. Sharon Rd., Colerain, OH died Tues. May 14, 2002 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. He was born Jul. 9, 1923 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Lewis S. and Mildred M. Park McNickle, Sr. He was a retired hydraulic and lubrication engineer for Consol; past President of the American Society of Lubrication Engineers; Instructor of Hydraulics and Engineering at Ohio University Eastern, Belmont Tech and West Virginia Northern; author of the textbook "Simplified Hydraulics"; a member of the first Martins Ferry High School track team; a pioneer in model aviation in Ohio Valley; a member of Ohio City Lodge #486 F. & A.M.; and a veteran of U.S. Army Air Corp WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Catherine E. (Cline) McNickle. Surviving are four sons Scott McNickle, III and his wife Nancy of Mt. Pleasant, Kevin McNickle and his wife LuAnn of Radcliff, KY, Shannon McNickle and his wife Rosanne of Sunset Heights, and Colin McNickle and his wife Erin of Pittsburgh, seven grandchildren; Sarah and Kestin McNickle, Katrina Bates, Karman Rodgers, Audra Lewicki, and Taylor and Kady McNickle. Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry Fri 2-4 & 7-9 PM where services will be held Sat. at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Van D. Fisher officiating. Burial follows in Farmington Cemetery, Farmington, OH with full military graveside honors by the Belmont Co. Council of the V.F.W. Masonic ritualistic services will be held Fri. at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colerain Volunteer Fire Department.
