Laura Hilda (Pittman) Balfantz, 87, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 at First Community Village Healthcare Center, Columbus, OH. She was born Oct. 3, 1922 in Beallsville, OH a daughter of the late Ira and Carrie (Piatt) Pittman. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse from Good Shepherd Nursing Home of Wheeling, WV. Hilda was a member of the First Christian Church of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Balfantz in 1965. Surviving are three sons Robert (Sue) Balfantz of Cleveland, OH, David (Carolyn) Balfantz of Baton Rouge, LA, and Mark (Lydia) Balfantz of Camden, DE, a daughter Kathryn (Alvin, Jr) Schneid of Bridgeport, OH, a brother Ralph Pittman of Woodsfield, OH, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Family and friends will be received Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at 10:00 am with Ministers Rod Kasler and Terry Erwin officiating.
