Obituary

Lawrence V. "Larry" Hunkler, 92 of Martins Ferry passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the East Ohio Regional Hospital.  He was born in Barnesville, the son of the late Dorie and Ann (Fitzgerald) Hunkler.

Larry was Catholic by faith, retired from Nickle's Bakery, and the former Wonder Bakery of Wheeling, a veteran of the US Army Korean War, member of the Bellaire VFW Post 626, Martins Ferry Legion Post #38, Cave Club of Wheeling, and a member of the Belmont County Council Color Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Goldie Edgel, Frances, and Otis Hunkler, and a great nephew Matthew Edgel.

Surviving is a niece Mary (Donald) Woods of Stone Mountain GA, nephew Tom (Sue) Edgel, Jr. of Moundsville, three great nieces and two great nephews, and a dear friend Linda Williamson.

Friend will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home Heslop Chapel 415 Walnut St. Martins Ferry, Ohio on Monday October 2, 2023, from 5-8 pm. Were services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am. Interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove.

With Full Military Honors presented by the Belmont County Veterans Association on Monday at 6:30 at the Funeral Home.
