Lawrence Delbert "Bub" Lucas, 85, of Bethesda, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born May 1, 1926 in Bethesda, Ohio, son of the late Delbert V. Lucas and Edna Travis Lucas. "Bub" retired from Consol Mining and was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a life member of the Bethesda American Legion Epworth Post #90, a member of Bethesda Veterans of Foreign Wars, the NRA, and a life member of Bethesda Farmers and Sportsmans Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Violet Fettig Perkins, Vava Martin, Faye Kuthy, Edna Freeman Oxley, and Regina Lucas; and brothers, Dexter, Dallas, Joseph, Frank, and John David Lucas. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jumps Lucas; daughters, Theresa Starr of Bethesda, Ohio and Misty (Jerry) Long of Hendersonville, North Carolina; sons, Larry Lucas of Bethesda, Ohio, Jack (Bonnie) Lucas of Morristown,Ohio, and Rusty (Mary Ann) Lucas of Bethesda, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Genevieve Armstrong of Barnesville, Ohio; and brother, Darrell (Charlotte) Lucas of Bethesda, Ohio. Friends may visit, Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Kelly Kemp Braido & Patron Funeral Home, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio where services will be conducted, Thursday 11 a.m. Reverend Tina Gallaher will be officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Bethesda American Legion Post #90.
