LENA CARANDA, 87, of Mingo Junction, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the home of her daughter JoAnn in Mingo Junction. She was born February 12, 1920 in Mingo Junction, the daughter of the late Luigi and Philomena Meral Ciafardone. Lena was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Steubenville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Caranda in 2006; two brothers Samuel and Michael Ciafardone; a sister Theresa Gampolo and a grandson James Marchetta. Lena is survived by three daughters Angeline Marchetta and her husband James of Mingo Junction, Jo Ann Cicone and her husband Ernest of Mingo Junction and Rose Marie Delaney and her husband Charles of Weirton; a brother Attilio Ciafardone and his wife Helen of Mingo Junction; a sister Mary Asunta Cutri of Mingo Junction; six grandchildren Mark Marchetta and his wife Loretta, Anthony Marchetta and his wife Debra, Mike Cicone and his wife Sandy, Debbie Barbetta, Sherry Bodrog and her husband Jeff and Charles Delaney, Jf.; 11 great grandchildren MJ, Austin, Anthony and Abriana Marchetta, Clark and Rachael Cicone, Jonathan and Matthew DeStefano, Justin Barbetta, Ryan and Sarah Bodrog. In accordance with Lena's wishes, funeral services will be private at Blaschalk-Wilson Funeral Home, 115 Union Ave., Mingo Junction. Entombment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Steubenville.
