Lester R. "Jack" Jarvis, Jr., 86, of Country Club Road, St. Clairsville, OH died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born Dec. 18, 1921 in Martins Ferry, OH a son of the late Lester R. Jarvis, Sr. and Pearl (Holland) Jarvis. He is the retired owner & president of J and M Electrical Supply of Cambridge, OH and E and L Supply in Weirton, WV. Jack was a member of Bridgeport Lodge #181 F. & A. M., Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville, and the Osiris Shrine of Wheeling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy WWII where he was involved with the invasion of Normandy on D Day and the landing at Okinawa. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Oliver E. "Bud" Jarvis. Surviving are his wife Louise (Griffith) Jarvis, two sons Les Jarvis and Brad Jarvis and his wife Maggie all of St. Clairsville, four grandchildren Mark Jarvis and his wife Krista of Colerain, Bill Jarvis and his wife Beth of Cambridge, Paul Jarvis and his wife Kami of Grove City, OH, and Gwendolyn Holstein and her husband Nate of St. Clairsville, and eight great grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday 6 to 8 pm and Friday 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at 11:00 am with Chaplin Ron Morgan officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 6290 Linton Blvd., Suite 104, Delray Beach, FL 33484.
