Lewis (Louis) F. Zalenski, 91, of N. 9th St., Martins Ferry, OH died Tuesday, Mar. 4, 2008 at Country Club Retirement Center, Bellaire, OH. He was born Mar. 24, 1916 in Barton, OH a son of the late Anthony Zalenski and Mary (Emilski) Zalenski Giboski Zuboski. He was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Lewis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the former Eagles Aerie #456 both of Martins Ferry. He was also a member of the Colerain V.F.W. Post #8848 and Bellaire D.A.V. Post # 113. Lewis was a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father Alex Giboski, three brothers Benjamin and Stanley Zuboski, and Steve Giboski, and three sisters Bertha McCracken, Sophia Slezak, and Josephine Poludniak. Surviving are his wife of 62 years Rose (Sidella) Zalenski, four sons Donald (Phyllis) Zalenski of St. Clairsville, OH, James (Veronica) Zalenski of Pickerington, OH, Glen (Kathy) Zalenski of Bloomingdale, OH and Fr. Gary Zalenski, Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Neffs, OH, a sister Stella Fisher of Colerain, a brother Edward Zuboski of Oklahoma, and six grandchildren Laura, Rachel, Amy, Angie, Matthew, and Eric. Family and friends will be received Saturday, Mar. 8, 2008 from 10 am until 11:30 am at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry. Burial follows in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry. The Belmont Co. Council of the VFW will hold military services in the funeral home at 11:15 am. The family request no flowers.
