Liberty J. 'Josie", (Zurek) Rigas, 93, of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, OH died Mon., Feb. 27, 2006 at Forest Hills Retirement Community, St. Clairsville, OH. She was born Dec. 25, 1912 in Warsaw, Poland a daughter of the late Andrew and Antonina (Kolaszca) Zurek. She was a former employee of Martins Ferry Hospital and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary # 456, both of Martins Ferry, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Nick Rigas, a son Thomas Rigas, three brothers Bruno, Walter and John Zurek, a sister Mary Slaga. Surviving are her daughter-in-law Rosalie Rigas of Martins Ferry, a son Andrew Rigas and his fiancee Jean Booth of Rittman, OH, a daughter Thelma Boroski and her husband William of Aurora, IL, two brothers Andrew Zurek of Dillonvale, OH and Joseph Zurek of Smithfield, OH, a sister Helen Tansek of Canton, OH, two nieces Madalyn Tomich and her husband William of St. Clairsville, OH and Betty Harris of Adena, OH, twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Friends will be received Wed., 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Thurs., Mar. 2, 2006 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Douglas Liston officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Eagles Ladies Auxiliary of Martins Ferry will hold services Wed., Mar, 1, 2006 at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
