Lionel B. Robinson Lionel B. Robinson, 84, of Bridgeport, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry went to be with the Lord Jan. 30, 2003 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born Apr. 8, 1918 in Benbush, Tucker County, WV a son of the late Elige and Nessie Cross Robinson. He was employed by the Y & O Coal Company for 43 years working mostly at the Nelms #1 mine and retired as Assistant Mine Foreman. He graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1937 and later played semi-pro baseball. He was a member of Elks Lodge #895 and Eagles Aerie #456 both of Martins Ferry. Lionel married his beloved wife of 57 years Mary Martin Robinson on June 15, 1946 at the First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry where he served faithfully as Elder and Sunday School teacher for many years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Orville, Lonnie W. and Elige, Robinson, Jr. Surviving are his wife Mary Martin Robinson, a son Lionel "Rob" Robinson of Bridgeport, a daughter Linda Mayberry and her husband Terry of Colerain, three grandchildren Terry Mayberry and his wife Jennifer and Joe Mayberry all of Columbus, Tammy Jo Poeppelmeier and her husband Mike of Springboro, OH, three beautiful and much loved great grandchildren, Kailee Jo and Terry James Mayberry and Michaela Renae Poeppelmeier, two sisters-in-law Matilda Holosko Robinson of Pittsburgh and Victoria Robinson of Indiana, two local cousins Irene Cross and Carlene Schultz, both of Wheeling, and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sat. 7-9 PM and Sun. 11-3 & 7-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral services will be held Mon., Feb. 3, 2003 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Fourth and Walnut St., Martins Ferry with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating. Burial follows in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling. Deacons of the church will hold services Sun. at 1:00PM followed by Elks services at 7:30 PM both in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 400 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH
