HOWELLS, Lois Marie Schoen, 93, formerly of Bellaire, died Saturday May 21, 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia. Lois was born September 28, 1917 in Bellaire, Ohio, the daughter of the late William Henry Schoen and Nancy Belle Hickman Schoen. Lois was a 1935 graduate of Bellaire High School. She married James August Howells of Bridgeport, February 14, 1943 while he was in the Army Air Corps. Lois's primary role and greatest joy was as a wife and mother where she created a loving and nurturing home for her family. During her lifetime she was a member of the Episcopal Church, DAR, and Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James August Howells, brother, James E. Schoen and sisters Virginia S. Davis and Dorothy S. Poff. She is survived by daughters Kristine H. Lebbos of Atlanta, Georgia and Nancy H. (C.W.) Short of Americus, Georgia. Four grandchildren James G. Lebbos, Kimberly L. (Jacob) Stone, Laura S. (William) Rooks and Chandler W. (Rebecca) Short and two great-grandchildren Annslee and Adalyn Rooks, sister-in-law Mary Lou Schoen and several much loved nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received Friday, 6-8 p.m at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio where services will be held Saturday May 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Richard Skaggs, of St. Matthews Episcopal Church, officiating. Memorial contributions in Lois's memory may be made to the Lois Schoen Howells Scholarship Fund at Bellaire High School, 340 34th Street, Bellaire, Ohio 43906.
