Lois Jean "Jeanie" (Smith) Smith, 80, of Belmont Manor, St. Clairsville, OH formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died peacefully Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 with her five children at her side at Liza's Place Hospice Care Facility, Wheeling, WV. She was born Oct. 15, 1930 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Hartzell and Martha (Andears) Smith. She was retired from the former Martins Ferry Eagles. Jeanie was also a member of the Eagles #456 Ladies Auxiliary, and she was an avid bowler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James R. Smith, Sr., two brothers Walter, and George Smith, and three sisters Virginia Wheeler, Ruth Jones, and Dorothy Johnson. Surviving are two sons James R.(companion Linda) Smith, Jr., and Richard A. Smith both of Martins Ferry, three daughters Darla (Ken) Mitchell of Martins Ferry, Rhonda (Dayle) Conaway of Bridgeport, OH, and Missy (Greg) Malesky of New Alexandria, OH, a brother Clarence (Judy) Briggs of St. Clairsville, OH, fourteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at 11:00 am with Chaplain Margie Carr-Nickell officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Memorial may be made to Liza's Place Hospice Care Facility, 308 Mt. Joseph Rd.., Wheeling, WV 26003.
