Lois E. (Jones) Shafer, 95, of Bridgeport, OH, died Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV. She was born September 1, 1924 in Martins Ferry, OH the daughter of the late John G. and Emma (Weigel) Jones.
Lois retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and Office Systems. She was a 1942 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport. She was a talented artist who was well known for her beautiful bird paintings.
Her joy in life besides her family was her Thursday Art Class and her church group functions. Each of those people were like family to her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Shafer and her brother, John Robert Jones.
Surviving are her children: Cynthia (Gary) Johnson of Wheeling, Linda (David) Menoski of Elkhart, IN, Diane (Tim) Collette of Piqua, OH, John Shafer, Richard Shafer and Robert Shafer all of Bridgeport and Bill Shafer of Colerain, OH and grandchildren: Eric, Kelly, Melanie, Christina, Mark, Kimberly and Timothy and eleven great grandchildren as well as her cousin Janet Kemp and a niece and nephew.
She was a gentle soul who was beautiful inside and out. Lois will be missed by all who knew her.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH with Rev. Jim Hoff officiating.
