Lois Jean Durant Timberlake, 87, of Bridgeport, Ohio, passed away Friday the 24th of February 2017 at Westwood Place Senior Living in Woodsfield, Ohio. She was born September 18, 1929 in the home on Laipple Street, Bridgeport, OH, the daughter of the late Coleman Joseph and Ruth Etta Woods Durant Sr. By the time she was sixteen, Lois and her two brothers had lost both parents. Committed to family and friends that brought much joy to her life and the lives of others, Lois belonged to several organizations such as the Eastern Star #489 and Ladies Oriental Shrine. Lois's volunteer work continued throughout her entire life, working with her late husband at the Shriner Hospitals. Her work never went unnoticed in Martins Ferry, Ohio where she helped at the Clothes Closet, folding clothes for the needy. Lois continued to help prepare food bags and or baskets for her locale community. Along with all these wonderful works, she also helped to make meals for the Sherriff's and EMS Departments in Woodsfield. Preceded in death by her husband after 37 years of marriage, Arthur W. Timberlake on October 9, 1985 and two younger brothers: Van D. Durant and Coleman J. Durant Jr.; and a wonderful friend and companion for 21 years Joe Eighme who also turned her into an avid Ohio State Football Fan. Survived by children: Ardith (Norman) Friend of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Candy (Ron) Talbot of Clarington, OH, Vickie (David) LaMotte of Payson, AZ, Melvin (Lori) Timberlake of Brilliant, OH; grandchildren: Scott Friend of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Kiley Talbot (David) Hammond of Fayetteville, NC, Heather (Talbot) Cox of Woodsfield, Matt (Olga) LaMotte of Scottsdale, AZ, Jeff (Lexy) LaMotte of Tempe, AZ, Ashley Timberlake (Steven Fathbruckner) of Columbus, OH; four great-grandchildren; Travis and Jared Hammond of Fayetteville, NC, Katelyn Cox of Woodsfield, and Patrick LaMotte of Scottsdale, AZ. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Holly Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum Chapel on Friday March 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Demarest officiating and a special prayer by Claire Heldman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Osiris Shrine Temple, 91 Kruger St. Wheeling, WV 26003.
