BLAHOVEC, Loren Jan, a talented pianist, died August 23, 2008 in Evansville, IN. He was born in Dillonvale, Ohio, February 23, 1928, a son of the late Anton and Helen Horsky Blahovec. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tony. Loren played with a number of name bands in Indiana, Florida and Ohio. He also played with the Ohio State Band, the Army Jazz Band and did a Far East Tour with the 4 Preps. In 1971, he was named "Jazzman of the Year". He is survived by his wife Jan Blahovic and five children, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a sister, Lorraine (Ray) Besece of Dillonvale, Ohio; and numerous cousins.
