Loretta S. (Metcalfe) Koballa, 89, of St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Oct. 18, 1922 in Roscoe, PA a daughter of the late Joseph and Ella (White) Metcalfe. She was a retired department manager for Sears-Roebuck Co. of St. Clairsville. Loretta was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of St. Clairsville and a member since 1945 of Monessen Chapter #205 Order of Eastern Star of Monessen, PA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Thomas E. Koballa, Sr., her daughter Kathy Shutler, her sister Margaret Lewis and a brother Joseph Metcalfe. Surviving are her son Thomas E. (Nancy) Koballa, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, son - in-law Kevin (Debbi) Shutler of St. Clairsville, sister-in-law Rita (Harold) Ream of St. Louis, grandchildren; Elizabeth, Ashley, Emily, and Amanda Koballa of St. Louis, Christopher (Anne) Shutler of Chicago, IL, Andrea (Jeremy) Schafer of St. Clairsville, and David Shutler of Washington, DC, great grandchildren; Brady and Lucas Schafer, Daniel and Allison Shutler and nephews; Don (Linda) Lewis of Monroe, NC and Warren (Bonnie) Lewis of Roscoe, PA. Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas A. Chillog officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 Ste. Rte. 150, Rayland, OH 43943 or St. Clairsville Public Library, 108 W. Main St., St. Clairsville, OH 43950. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
