Obituary

Louis F. Bevilacqua, 92, of Farmington Hills, MI, formerly of N. 9th St., Martins Ferry, OH, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Farmington Hills Inn, Farmington. He was born Nov. 12, 1921 in Export, PA a son of the late Louis Bevilacqua, Sr. and Rose (Mole) Bevilacqua. He retired from the former Picoma Industries. Lou was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion Post #38 and Ohio River Valley Elks Lodge # 231 all of Martins Ferry. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, WW II, South Pacific Theater. Lou was the last living member of Martins Ferry High School 1941 State Basketball Championship team. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Hanly) Bevilacqua, brothers; Augustine, Salvatore and Sam Bevilacqua and sisters; Mary Bellavia, Gladys Costa and Rose Nickle. Surviving are his children; Doug (Marge Walter) Bevilacqua of Livonia, MI, Michelle (William) Scott of Willow Springs, NC and Richard (Linda) Bevilacqua of Uncasville, CT, sisters; Jennie Hruschek and Katherine Cupples both of Buffalo, NY, sister-in-law; Maureen Lovinski of Wintersville, OH, grandchildren; Nicole Ewing, Shannon Scott, Jason Scott, Jennifer Strini, Zach Bevilacqua, Brian Santoro, Jennifer Melton, Annie Brinkley and Sarah Diaz, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces nephews. Friends will be received Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Burial follows in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. Rosary devotions will be recited Friday at 3:00 pm followed by Wake services at 7:30 pm both in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary's Catholic Church, 20 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH or Alzheimer's Association, 70 W. Streetsboro St., Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236.
