Louis ""Louie"" A. Kakascik, 75, of Mingo Junction, died on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Trinity West, Steubenville. He was born July 5, 1932 in Mingo Junction to the late Louis J. and Victoria Strupe Kakascik. Louie was a member of St Agnes Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #4361, American Legion and Slovak Citizens Club all of Mingo Junction. He served his country during the Korean War on the USS Pittsburgh while in the Navy. He is retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he held the position of blast furnace superintendent. In addition to his parents Louie was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Jimmy Kakascik; two sisters, Mary Catherine Hinkle and Charlotte Kakascik Surviving are his wife of fifty one years, Catherine C. ""Kitty"" Kakascik, a son, Louis E. Kakascik and his wife Lisa of Steubenville; three daughters, Carol Indovina and her husband Mark, Cathy Miller, and Vicky Peckens and her husband Wayne all of Mingo Junction; two brothers, Monsignor Edward Kakascik of Marietta and Thomas Kakascik and his wife Darlene of Mingo Junction; a sister, Clare Tucker of Buena Park, California; four granddaughters, a grandson; five step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. . Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Blaschalk-Wilson Funeral Home, 115 Union Ave. Mingo Junction where a Vigil service will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St Agnes Catholic Church with Father James Dunfee and Monsignor Edward Kakascik concelebrating. Interment will follow in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.
