Louis M. "Lou" Tolonese, 87, of Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Aspinwall VA Medical Center, Aspinwall, PA. He was born Oct. 28, 1929 in Yorkville, OH a son of the late Ralph and Lucy (Ziralle) Tolonese. He was retired from the Yorkville Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Lou was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #38, both of Martins Ferry. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Military Police, Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. (Benich) Tolonese, brother, Ralph Tolonese and sister, Alexandria Klika. Surviving are his children, Tina Marie Sokolowski of Martins Ferry and Michael L. (Jan) Tolonese of Surfside Beach, SC, sister, Carmen Tolonese of Tiltonsville, OH, grandchildren, Dana (Chris) Neavin, J. D. Sokolowski, Josh Sokolowski, Savannah Rose Tolonese, Sidney Elizabeth Tolonese and Cruz Neavin. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Martins Ferry. Wake services will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Honors will be presented by the Belmont Co. Council of American Legion, Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
