Luana M.
Reed
Oct 3, 1940 — Oct 10, 2026
Luana (“Toots”) Shudic Reed passed away on October 10, 2026, just shy of her 86th birthday.
Born October 30, 1940, to John and Agnes (Jerry) Shudic, she attended high school in Bridgeport, Ohio with Phil and Joe Neikro, as well as John Havlicek. In Rochester, Toots welcomed five sons, all born in September. In Syracuse she dove into in her sons’ activities - football, track, wrestling, basketball, baseball, judo, chorus and theater, becoming a favorite mom to all. Toots earned her GED while working at Westhill High, Syracuse Housing Authority and CENTRO.
With her children grown, she settled in her hometown of Wolfhurst, OH, assisting her mom and stepdad Joe Rudzinski, eventually retiring from Wheeling Hospital. In her final years, Toots enjoyed an occasional perm and hamburger and whiskey & coke.
Toots’ passing threatens to bring an end to the family tradition she started – photos of loved ones giving a single finger ‘salute’. She was predeceased by her father, mother, step-father, sister Sandra and son Richard. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law David and Leah, Byron and Linda, Joseph and Ellen, and Stephen; sisters Janet and Janice; brother-in-law John; grandchildren Benjamin, Clayton, David Charles, Robyn, Joseph, Mary, Katherine, Lukas, Jesse and Brittany; nephew Ralph; nieces Pilar, Yvette, Tamara, J’nine, Sharon, Susan, Elizabeth, Linda, Beverly and Nancy; cousins Jeanne, Michael and Dan, Bertha; numerous great-grandchildren; and ex-husband David and his wife Mary.
Her sons would like to thank the staff at CCRC as well as Stonerise Hospice for their loving care of their mom. There will be no services; internment will be private. Donations may be made to your local Salvation Army.
