Luke Joseph Wiater, 33, of Bridgeport, OH., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
He was the son of the late Timothy Mark Wiater and Annette Marie Wiater. Luke was born December 11, 1988 in Wheeling, WV.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his uncle John Wiater, as well as his grandparents Stanley and Anna (Butch) Wiater, and grandfather John L. Gdula.
Luke was a Catholic by faith. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bridgeport, OH.
Luke attended Tomorrow's Corner. Some of Luke's hobbies included watching music videos, bouncing on his exercise ball, swinging in his leaf swing and going for car rides. Luke had a special bond with his niece Abby and she would always ask to see Luke when they FaceTimed.
He is survived by his loving mother Annette Wiater who loved and cared for her son with autism. Luke is also survived by his sister Annie (Bill) Johnson, niece Abigail Johnson, future nephew and grandmother Ann Marie Gdula. Surviving aunts and uncles include; Judy Wiater, Linda Wiater, Kevin & Barbara Adams and John & Christina Gdula, also cousins; Matthew Gdula, Justin Wiater and Corey (Chris) Kerr. He will be dearly missed by the Tomorrow's Corner community.
Luke's family is eternally grateful to the Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Tomorrow's Corner for all of the opportunities availed to Luke throughout his life. Thank you to his recent SSA's Janice and Amber. Special appreciation to his HPC providers, Tassie, Robin and Jennifer for their love and care and to Paramount transportation driver Joe and his former driver Dan.
While Luke might not have been able to speak, his smile and laugh spoke volumes. He brought joy to everyone that he encountered. He was frequently seen giving high-fives and enjoying Lucky Charms, chicken nuggets, Oreos and pizza.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 10th from 3-8 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, OH. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 11th at 10 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bridgeport, OH., with the Rev. John Mucha, Rev. Timothy Shannon and Rev. Thomas Marut. Interment in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, OH.
