Margaret J. Slotwinski, 90, a resident of Alexandria, VA, where she resided since 1991 with her son, and formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away peaceably Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehab Center, Alexandria, VA. She was born Dec. 30, 1917 in Hutchinson, WV a daughter of the late Peter and Julia (Czap) Czap. She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Mackey Community Center both of Martins Ferry and Pine Valley Sportsman Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ted F. Slotwinski and a brother William P. Czap. Surviving are her sons Ted A. Slotwinski of Alexandria, VA and David L. Slotwinski and his wife Roselyn A. of Olympia, WA, a brother Julius Czap of Martins Ferry, and a sister Gazella T. Burkle of Shadyside, OH. She was known for her modesty, her kindness and friendship to everyone, and her love of children. Friends will be received Monday 1-3 & 5-8 and Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 from 9 am until time of services at 10:00 am at Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry with Rev. Bernard Krajcovic officiating. Interment follows at St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the following fund in support of her 4 year old great nephew Carson Bruner who is suffering from Streptococcus Group A necrotizing fasciaitis, c/o Carson Bruner Memorial Fund, c/o Fifth Third Bank, 925 South Main St., Centerville, OH 45458 or to a charity of your choice.
