Margaret A. Hassig, 89, of N. 7th St., Martins Ferry, OH, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, OH died Wed., Nov. 17, 2004 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Oct. 17, 1915 in New Martinsville, WV a daughter of the late Arch and Molly (Merkle) Hassig. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant U. Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Wilma Wilson. Surviving are a brother Dr. William (Peggy) Hassig of Ogdensburg, NY; a sister Jennie (James) Morris of Morrow, GA; four nephews: Donald and David Hassig both of Ogdensburg, NY, Steven Hassig of Binghamton, NY, and Richard Morris of Huntsville, AL; several great nieces and nephews; her good friend Marian Packer of Martins Ferry, with whom she resided for over 50 years, and Marian's children: Mary Edith (Errol) Sambuco of Martins Ferry, Richard (Peggy) Packer of Grove City, Fred (Polly) Packer of Newburgh, IN, and Freda (Bruce) McKean of Green Bank, WV. Friends will be received Thur. 7-9 PM and Fri., Nov. 19, 2004, from noon until time of services at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Burial follows in Highland Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, OH.
