Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Rice-Jones, 88 of Newark, Ohio, formerly of Bridgeport passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on November 2, 1936, in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Robert F. and Margaret "Peg" (Stoker) Rice.
She was the owner of Granville Children's Corner of Granville, Ohio, a member of the Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, a proud graduate of Bridgeport High School, class of 1954, where she was a majorette in the band and was the Homecoming Queen. Even after leaving the area Peggy remained active in the Bridgeport Alumni Association. She loved her cats in fact she was all about her cats. She was a loving and generous person who had a way of making everyone feel like they were the most special person in the room. Peggy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her most cherished moments were when she could spend time with her family making holidays and celebrations special, with her cooking and intricate table settings. Peggy touched many lives and will be remembered dearly for all her kindness and willingness to help others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald G.. Jones in 2007, sister, Shirley Hartzell and her cat, Baby Boy Jones.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Dawn L. (Doug) Auld of New Albany, and Jennifer D. Parker of Columbus, grandchildren, Sarah (Justin) Myers, Drew (Paige) Auld and Hannah Auld, Kate (Jan) Gawlitza and Brooke Parker (Dave Carson), great-grandchildren, Addison, Reece, Beckham, Bailey, Jacob, Lauren and Emma, and furry friends, Ellie and Joe.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 3-7pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, Ohio 43912. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
