Marion (McMurray) Packer, 95, of N. 7th St., Martins Ferry, OH died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Feb. 8, 1912 in McMurray, PA a daughter of the late Charles R. and Mary Edith (McNary) McMurray. Marion was retired from the former Packer Insurance Agency, Martins Ferry. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry where she was an Elder, retired music director of the adult and children's choirs, and former director of the Handbell Choir. Many years ago she was adult choir director for Grace Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry. She was chairman of the Thursday Music Club Auditions for many many years and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter J., Wheeling, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her husband Fred E. Packer. Surviving are two sons Richard W. (Peggy) Packer of Grove City, OH and Fred M. (Polly) Packer of Newburgh, IN, two daughters Mary Edith (Errol) Sambuco of Martins Ferry, and Freda (Bruce) McKean of Greenbank, WV, thirteen grandchildren Errol (Christy) Sambuco, Jr. of Bethlehem, WV, John (Maria) Sambuco of Pickerington, OH, Scott (Lynn) Sambuco, of Johnstown, PA, Rick (Kristy) Packer of Atlanta, GA, Matthew McKean of Vienna, VA, Adam (Caryn) Packer of Indianapolis, IN, Aaron (Stephanie) Packer of Columbus, OH, Andrew (Roxanne) Packer of Homewood, IL, Susan (Shawn) Ebert of Columbus, OH, Anne (Chris) Norman of Gahanna, OH, Marion (Dave) Enyeart of Raleigh, NC. Emily Packer of Oak Park, IL and Caroline McKean of Greenbank, WV, and fifteen great grandchildren Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Friends will then be received Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry where Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence will officiate. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Deacons of the Presbyterian Church will hold services Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 400 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
