Martha E. (Escott) Writer Givens, 91, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Tue., Dec. 6, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Apr. 5, 1914 in Pease Twp., Belmont Co., OH a daughter of the late Albert E. and Gertrude L. (Hall) Escott. She was an employee of the former Stone & Thomas Department Store of Wheeling, WV and a member of the First Baptist Church of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband William S. Writer, her second husband Kenneth W. Givens, a daughter Judy Green, a grandson William Green, a son-in-law Frank H. Neavin, III, a brother Kenneth W. Escott, and a sister Helen Clark. Surviving are two daughters Linda (Norman) Compton of Reynoldsburg, OH and Susan Neavin of Alvarado, TX, brothers and sisters, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joseph Sanders officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
