Martha (Jones) Carpenter, 92, of Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at her home. She was born February 15, 1924 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late George A. and Harriett A. (Fairbairn) Jones. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Glen Carpenter, son Barry Philip Carpenter, I, four brothers; Alfred, Russell, Eugene and Vernon Jones and five sisters; Vesta, Mary, Harriett, Mildred and Vera. She is survived by a daughter, Glenna A. (Ernest) Mackey of Martins Ferry, OH, two sisters; Maxine Younger of MD and Velma Deaton of Lorain, OH, four grandchildren: Barry P. Carpenter, II of Martins Ferry, Dawn (Mackey) Greve of TN, Lisa (Mackey) Marchbank and Jodi L. Mackey both of Martins Ferry, and great grandchildren; Chase , Hunter, Raegan, Trystan and Payton Greve, Morgan, Kade and Braelyn Carpenter, and "sibling" on the way, Carly and Avery Marchbank, and Santino and Lucca DeArdo. Many nieces and nephews and godson, John Bauknecht of MI. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
