Obituary

Mary Battista Antosh, of Adena, OH died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the East Ohio Regional Hospital, Long Term Care Center, Martins Ferry, OH. Mary was born in Adena, OH. She was a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. B.M. Battista also of Adena. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Antosh of Adena; two brothers, Theodore Battista and Alex Battista of Michigan; a sister, Ethel Luke of Florida. Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Antosh of Adena with whom she resided; two nephews, Attorney Robert J. Battista of Michigan and Ronald Bernasek of Florida. Mary was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisville, OH with strong ties to the Catholic Church as well. A graduate of Adena High School, Mary was a star basketball Player on the girls' basketball team. She held the position of forward and due to her excellent playing ability became captain of the team during her senior year at Adena High School. Mary earned the varsity A letter for four years as a star player during which she led the team to an undefeated season as captain. Mary was also on the track team as well as being girl's athletic editor of The Annual. Mary's working career after high school graduation was spent at the Adena Post Office as Assistant Postmaster to Carl S. Irvin, Postmaster. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Wilson Funeral Home, Brookside. To honor Mary's wishes, there was no visitation and interment was at the Olive Branch Cemetery, Harrisville, OH. Services were officiated by Reverend Barry Hall and Monsignor John Kolesar.
